This former professional basketball player came to the world on March 29, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the eldest of nine children. The school life of Frazier began at David Tobias Howard High School. His early life did not start only with basketball but also with football. He preferred a basketball career as it was free of black quarterbacks.
He was offered to play basketball with Southern Illinois University, and he accepted the offer. His basketball career began at this university.
In his college career, he began to spread the light of excellence and skill. He became one of the premier collegiate basketball players in the country. In 1964 and 1965, he became a Division II All-American. His outstanding performance helped his team reach the NCAA Division II Tournament. In 1967, his university moved from Division II to Division III. His team won the National Invitation Tournament, defeating Marquette University 71–56 in the final. In 1971, he scored 26 points. Frazier was included as the MVP of an exhibition game played between NBA and ABA All-Stars in Houston’s Astrodome.
