In the 1982 NBA draft, he was selected by the Detroit Pistons in 9th overall for the 1st round. He stayed with this team till 1984. Leaving the Detroit Pistons, he moved to the Atlanta Hawks and wore the jersey of this team till 1990. In 1990 he signed with the Chicago Bulls and played for this till 1992.

The golden part of his career was this team. In his tenure with this team, he favored his team to win the NBA championship in 1990-1991 and 1991-1992 two times.

The rest of his career was with the European club. In the 1992-1993 seasons, he played for the Greek club PAOK. Then he moved to the Italian club Buckler Bologna and played for the team in 1993-1994.

At the last phase of his career, he returned to the NBA and joined the Denver Nuggets. He played for this team in 1994-1995, one season. Wearing the jersey of this team, he retired from professional basketball life.
