He began playing professional basketball in 1978 and retired in 1991.

During the professional journey of his life, he played for the Bancoroma Roma, Seleco Napoli, New York Knicks, Albany Patroons, Barcelona, Limoges, Fantoni Udine, Benetton Treviso, Annabella Pavia, Grupo IFA Granollers. 

The basketball career of Mike Davis in the NBA was not lengthy. He spent only one season in the NBA. He spent most of the time of his career in Italy and Spain. In his one-year NBA career, he played only eight games and scored 1.8 points and 1.3 rebounds on average.

The first team of his professional life was Bancoroma Roma. He spent his career with this team from 1978 to 1991. Next season, he played partly for Seleco Napoli and New York Knicks. In the 1982-83 seasons, he played for the Albany Patroons and New York Knicks. Trent Tucker was his teammate in that season. From 1983 to 1985, his career duration was with Barcelona. Leaving Barcelona, Mike moved to the Limoges and played here for one season in 1985-86. In the next season, he played for Fantoni Udine. Leaving this team, he signed a contract with the Benetton Treviso and stayed here one season in 1987-88. The following season in 1988-89 was with Annabella Pavia. Mike Davis wore the last jersey in his professional life with the Grupo IFA Granollers. Here he stayed from 1989 to 1990.
